Pitti Immagine Uomo is an international fashion fair for men’s clothing that’s held biannually in Florence, Italy to showcase new projects. It was first established in 1972 by Pitti Immagine Srl, an organization that bolsters the Italian fashion industry. A lot of mainstream fashion can dismiss the creativity in men’s fashion, often labeling them as un-innovative and basic. While women’s clothing seems to be more appreciated and talked about, Pitti Immagine Uomo breaks the norm that men’s clothing is boring. The fair’s main goal is to attract designers, customers and fashion enthusiasts all from around the world to come and appreciate menswear.

Various exhibitions, runway shows and presentations are held to showcase the latest menswear collections. The event provides an opportunity for designers to display their creativity, and for buyers to discover new brands and trends. Pitti Uomo also hosts a wide range of panel discussions, workshops and networking opportunities to help fashion admirers connect with the industry. For those who aren’t invited or participating in the fair, anyone interested can purchase a ticket through the website to attend.

Pitti Immagine Uomo is the best opportunity for people to come in their best outfits and display innovative styling techniques. Not only can people learn from each other, but it’s a great advantage to challenge their wardrobes.

This has to be one of most striking looks because of the juxtaposition of casual elements with a professional button up and tie. You would think that mixing professional clothing with shorts would be an odd combination, but the gentleman absolutely hit the mark with this outfit. What really impressed me was the color coordination with the maroon lettering and shoes. I definitely have to say it can be difficult for anyone to pull off this look, but whoever he is, he nailed it! His outfit is definitely reminding me of a classic schoolboy outfit that’ll never go out of style because of how timeless it is. His outfit is wearable to almost any occasion because of how casual it is, this is a look I can see any person of any age rock. Although he’s a bit older, the mister man doesn’t seem like he’s trying to look too “hip.”

Although I’m someone who isn’t a fan of loud patterns, these two guests did a great job mixing and matching. I love the proportions on both of them, because it helps accentuate their body shapes. I think these two outfits contain the perfect color palettes a man should use as a guide for the summer. A majority of their outfits are muted colors, but they add an accessory or two for a pop of color. The model on the right’s shirt has an African-like pattern that ties with his sweater vest well. He did an excellent job at styling another culture’s piece in an international fair. Pushing boundaries and wearing traditional clothing can be tricky, but the man did his deed showcasing it at such a famous fair. I’ve been seening a lot of silk/satin pants on runways this year and think he put his own twist on it with a patterned pair.

OK, this costal look caught me by surprise. I adore the way he paired the striped button up with a Kenzo Paris sailor hat. All of the pieces paired together give me a sailor boy look that I want to see men try this summer. The navy-inspired outfit can be hard to pull off, but it’s so suitable to wear on a hot vacation or somewhere fancy. I would’ve never thought someone could wear this type of hat and pull it off without someone questioning whether or not it was Halloween, but he changed my mind. The scarf tied around his neck gives the ultimate fancy, yet laid-back look. I think he achieved the classic “Florence'' look without overdoing it. All of the colors make his skin color absolutely pop and contrast one another.

Model: N/A Source: Fendi

Fendi was one of the guest runways during the fair and the looks are so outstanding. This look is so interesting to me because of how workwear was incorporated to regular wear. I appreciate how unique this look is because of how Fendi made several tools to include in the apron. The workwear reminds me of something a hiker or camper would wear for easy access to their essentials. The line pays so much respect to the fair and designers, including small details that resemble creativity and individuality. I think the symbolism behind this specific look is to resemble hard work that goes in a man’s craft; you are the best tool when it comes to making your idea come to life. I love mini details like this because it demonstrates that fashion is more than just clothing, but the work that goes behind making it.

ERL was the fair’s guest designer and they understood the assignment! Designer Eli Russell Linnetz said this line combines flair with unrestricted creativity; inspired by American clothes combined with street culture and luxury sportswear. This look instantly caught my eye because I’m a sucker for any monochromatic outfit. The line consisted mostly of silver and sequins, elements that I think can be a hit or miss because of how flashy or tracky they can look. The sequin gloves are the cherry on top, it doesn’t take away from the look but it adds the perfect amount of sparkle. Oversized blazers are timeless, but ERL took it up a notch and made it with a satin-like finish. For the summer, I can see myself and other fashion lovers diving into satin pieces to achieve a classy yet lightweight look.

I’m surprised that I’ve never heard of the Pitti Immagine Uomo fair before, but after researching it. I love the overall atmosphere behind it because it unites fashion lovers together to learn and admire work. Unfortunately, I don’t think a lot of people are familiar with the show because not many A-list celebrities attend it. I hope to see more coverage of the fair in the future because it’s so monumental and isn’t an event to just watch models walk. Most fashion shows are very exclusive, but I appreciate how Pitti Immagine Uomo allows people to buy tickets and attend. Adding interactive aspects to the fair is something that doesn’t occur at events; so it’s super cool to see everyone learn from other designers.
